Born June 24, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frank Ellsworth Hammer, Jr., and the late Marian Alice Murrow. He will be remembered as an avid fan of auto racing, even during his last days he was sure to tune into the Daytona 500. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 53 years, Betty Boyd Hammer, are daughter Leigh Ann Walfred and son-in-law Anthony F. Walfred; two grandchildren, Anastasia Elizabeth Walfred and Anderson Hammer Walfred. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, 30 E. Athens Avenue, Ardmore, PA.
