Obituary:
Annie K.V. Klotz, of Rosemont, PA and known as Cooie all her life, died peacefully at Dunwoody Village on April 12, 2010, surrounded by her family. Born in 1927, Cooie was a proud domestic engineer, a leader in her community, and possessed of a generous and compassionate spirit. She loved music, sports and mountain air. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and friend, her spirited nature and outrageous personality brought joy and laughter to every gathering—whether a meeting, a party, or a long rock on the porch. As a committee woman for the Republican Party, a member of the women’s board at Jefferson and Bryn Mawr Hospitals, the President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, she was honored to dedicate her life to service. A graduate of Friends School Haverford and The Shipley School, Cooie was deeply interested in people, always curious about each of the members of her vast network and teaching that a true lady spoke to everyone in exactly the same tone of voice. The beloved daughter of Myra and Jacques Vauclain, she was married for many years to John R. Klotz. She is survived by two daughters, Louise K. Middleton of Wilmington, DE, and Ann V. Klotz of Shaker Heights, OH (Seth Orbach). Her son, James R. Klotz, predeceased her. She is survived, too, by seven grandchildren: Elizabeth DeCherney Sharp (Richard), Constance DeCherney, Sarah DeCherney, George Elliot DeCherney; Miranda Orbach, Cordelia Orbach, and Atticus Orbach and by great-granddaughter, Mackenzy Sharp. A life-long summer resident of Eagles Mere, PA, she was involved in every civic organization from St. Johns-in-the-Wilderness to the formation of the Athletic Association to the Civic Club. Her funeral service will be held at The Church of The Redeemer, Bryn Mawr, PA on Saturday, April 17th, 2pm A celebration of her life will also occur in Eagles Mere, PA in July. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Friends Haverford School (851 Buck Lane, Haverford, PA 19041) or the Ensemble Theater Community School (ETC, 43 Lyman Circle, Shaker Heights, OH 44122)
