D. Craig Althouse, a beloved Chiropractor from Ardmore, died peacefully at his home on May 5. He was born on October 25, 1939 to the late Russell G. and Dorothy (nee Knabb) Althouse. He was also predeceased by a brother, Russell Jr. and a sister Betty Jane Hebda.
Craig graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1957. He attended Villanova University and Long Island University and received his doctorate from The Chiropractic Institute of New York in 1963. In 1964 he established his Chiropractic practice in Ardmore. He served as the President of the Optimist Club of Ardmore, in many capacities at the Ardmore United Methodist Church including President of the Administrative Council. He served on the board of the Main Line YMCA and the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society. He was known throughout the community for his kindness, optimism and contagious smile.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ruth, of 42 years, his daughter Kimberly Timmons and her husband John, his daughter in law Patricia Althouse and his grandchildren Craig III, Christopher, Johnny and Sadye. He is also survived by his son D. Craig Althouse, Jr., his brother Dean Althouse as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for Sunday May 16th at 3pm at the Ardmore United Methodist Church, 200 Argyle Road, Ardmore. PA 19003 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ardmore United Methodist Church.
