Helen Ancha, 94, Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Helen Ancha, 94, of Bryn Mawr, PA and formerly Bethpage, NY passed away Saturday June 7, 2008 at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Ancha with whom she shared 50 years of loving marriage. Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen McGovern. Her life was defined by the kindness and friendship she gave to and received from all those around her. Passionate about her work, Helen was the sliver and china expert at a major department store for more than 30 years. But more than anything Helen’s happiness and longevity could be attributed to the deep love and devotion she shared with her family. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy that includes a devoted daughter, Ellen Berman Lee and son in law Jerry Lee (with whom she resided near for the last 20 years of her life) and a loving son and daughter in law, Michael and Joyce Ancha. Affectionately called Nana by most who knew her, Helen’s kind and gentle nature left an indelible impression on all those she encountered. She is survived by grandchildren Corinn Rocker, Ashley Berman, Scott Ancha and Laura Smith as well as great grandchildren Fallon Rocker, Phillip Smith and Dylan and Maya Ancha. Helen also enjoyed the love of her step grandchildren Joe Lee, Marjorie and Ed Curran, Laura and David Semmens and step great grandchildren, Joe and Julie Curran. Helen displayed an energy and youthfulness matched by few half her age. She loved to go for long walks, shop and spend time with her family. She simply loved life and loved being around those who loved her. A devout Catholic, Helen was a member of St. Colman’s Catholic Church in Ardmore where she regularly attended services well into her 90s. A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at St. Colman's Catholic Church, corner of Lancaster Ave and Argyle Rd., Ardmore on Tuesday, June 10th at 10 a.m., where the family will receive guests after 9:30. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery on Gulph and Matsonford Roads, West Conshohocken. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
