    James M. Wiggins

    April 30, 1918 - December 26, 2017

    James M. Wiggins April 30, 1918 ­ December 26, 2017 James M. Wiggins from Ardmore, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully December 26, 2017. He was 99 years old.  He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Smith Wiggins. He was a devoted and loving father of son Robert (Lois) and daughter Nancy (Joseph), grandchildren Michelle, Karen, Alex, Shawn, and great grandson Ryan. Jim was a proud graduate of Lower Merion High School. He was a member of the track and field team and the basketball team. In his youth he enjoyed summers at Ocean City N.J. where he worked at the Flanders Hotel. He served in World War II with the Mighty Eighth Air Force, as an airplane mechanic while stationed in England. After the war he was employed with Parsons Garage and later went on to work for Lower Merion School District as a bus driver, then head custodian of Harriton High School and Lower Merion High School.  He continued to be involved with LM Alumni and the Eighth Air Force Alumni. Jim was very active in his community. He was the cub scout leader of pack 98.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Ardmore. He also was a member of the Ardmore and Rosemont Optimist Club. Jim and his wife Alice loved to travel. They attended several Summer Olympics and continued to support the USA Olympic Team. He enjoyed being part of the Narberth and Rosemont Fourth of July activities. He enjoyed being a proud veteran in the Wayne Memorial Day Parade. Jim enjoyed retirement living in Brooksville, Florida playing golf and singing in the chorus. When he returned to Pa. he resided at Rosemont Presbyterian Village and recently at Spring Mill Presbyterian Village.
