Janice Sawin Keen, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She was 77. Born on October 26, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Janice was the beloved daughter of Henry and Rose Sawin. She earned her nursing degree from Gwynedd Mercy University and dedicated many years of her life to caring for others. As a pediatric nurse, she was known for her compassion, gentle spirit, and genuine love for children. Later in her career, she continued serving patients while working in cardiology. Always the best dressed, Janice approached life with zest, warmth, and elegance. She loved her Saturday night cocktail parties, where you were sure to hear her vivacious laugh from across the room. She had a lifelong passion for beauty and fashion and enjoyed sharing that interest with everyone around her. She also found great joy in gardening, playing bridge, cruising around in her convertible GTO and golfing. She was a proud member of the Merion Cricket Club and the Merion Golf Club, where she volunteered her time and formed many cherished friendships. Janice shared a loving marriage with her husband, Gordon Keen Jr. Together they enjoyed traveling the world and, for the past twenty winters, made their home in Indian Wells, California. They were active members of Eldorado Golf Club and became deeply connected to that close-knit community, where they created lasting friendships and treasured memories. Above all, Janice’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gordon Keen Jr.; her daughters, Katherine Keen and Allie Vassalli; her sons-in-law, Joe DiBiasi and Emanuele Vassalli; her beloved grandchildren, Emily and Oliver Vassalli, Jordan Baggett, and Joseph DiBiasi; her older brothers, Henry Sawin Jr. and Edmund Sawin, and her many loyal nieces and nephews. Her kindness, grace, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her funeral service and committal will be held on July 13th at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, followed by a reception at the Merion Cricket Club. To celebrate her colorful life, guests are encouraged to wear bright, cheerful colors to the memorial service.
