PATRICIA VANGELLOW LEIDY of Wayne, PA died on March 18, 2012 at the age of 60. Patricia was born in Rochester, New York on Sept. 1, 1951. She graduated form Penfield High School and attended Wittenberg University, graduating with B.A. in Geography in 1973. She worked as the Assistant Director of Penfield Parks and Recreation in Penfield, New York from 1973-1975. After which, she moved to suburban Philadelphia. She valued her ability and time to stay at home and raise her three daughters. She revisited her career in education after the girls were grown, working for several years at the Episcopal of the Day School of the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli. Later, while working at the circulation desk of the Radnor Memorial Library she continued with her love of books and the joy of interacting with people. She was a member and former deacon of the Wayne Presbyterian Church, serving on the board of the Wayne Presbyterian Nursery School. For the past 16 years she found purpose through the City Lights program of the Wayne Presbyterian Church by serving the Kingsessing neighborhood of southwest Philadelphia. She was devoted to the mission of the Cornerstone Christian Academy and worked tirelessly for the establishment of the City Lights Network, a free-standing non-profit that serves the community. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority as well as a former member of the Philadelphia Curling Club. She is the beloved wife of 37 years to Dr. David S. Leidy; devoted mother to Elizabeth L. Straight (Jesse), Cara L. Whelan (Denis), and Margaret A. Leidy; grandmother of Josephine, Roberta and Leon Straight; daughter of Theodore S. Vangellow and the late Theo; and sister of Alex M. Vangellow(Linda). Her Funeral Service will held on Fri. March 23rd, 2 PM in Wayne Presbyterian Church,125 E. Lancaster Ave. Wayne, PA 19087. Interment Shehawken Cemetery in Shehawken, PA.
