May 10, 1940 - February 19, 2021
Ann Hart Watson died peacefully at age 80 in her home with her husband of 56 years, Ross, at her side on February 19th. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice Paxson Hart and William B Hart of Villanova. Ann attended Mrs Rawle's Nursery School in Bryn Mawr where, at age five, she met Ross Watson, who, 20 years later, would become her husband. She went on to the Shipley School where she was a “lifer”, K to12. She made several lifelong friends there. After Shipley, Ann worked at a brokerage firm in Philadelphia for several years before she joined Robert Bruce Realty. She spent more than 40 years there, retiring as the Executive Secretary. She and Ross enjoyed travelling to New England, Canada and the Caribbean frequently as well as numerous self-drive canal boat trips in Europe and the UK. She was the perfect first mate and expert navigator on Ross' boats, whether on short day trips or on their epic (1000 mile} voyage from Daytona Beach to the top of the Chesapeake Bay. Ann loved animals, especially cats, and always had at least one or two in residence. She was also terrific with house plants, some of which have survived for more than 50 years under her care at “Frog Hollow”, the Watson’s 250 year old farmhouse in Newtown Square. She was kind, thoughtful and sweet, always a lady. Her friends often said that they had never heard her say a mean word about anybody. "It's just the way she was". Ann will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by Ross and his siblings; Rowley, George and Nancy as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends, and, of course, Winnie, the cat. Thanks go the doctors and nurses at the Paoli Hospital and especially to Renee LeGar, her beloved caregiver. A Memorial Service will be planned, when appropriate. Donations may be made to: The Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals, 320 Upper Gulph Road, Radnor PA 19087.
