Dr. David C. Stanton
August 14, 1962 - November 13, 2020
Dr. David C. Stanton, born in Pottsville, PA, son of Bill and Doris Stanton, passed away on November 13, 2020 at age 58. He resided in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania with his beloved wife and daughter. He predeceases his wife Linda, daughter Kelsey, mother Doris, and extended family. Dave was everything to Doris, Kelsey, and Linda. He was affectionately known as Daddy, Dave, Davis, and occasionally Dabe. He was the fixer of things. The family motto was “Keep Calm and Let Davis Handle It”! He persevered and got the job done. Always. Dave was typically first to complete any crossword puzzle. He loved puttering in the yard and mastering home repairs, showed patience with his fig tree, was our preferred grill master, and used his boy scout skills to make the biggest, warmest fires in his wood stove and backyard firepit. He was proud of his homemade chickpea curry stew and his quinoa salad, and loved experimenting with specialty cocktails to honor friends and celebrate special occasions. He loved music, from trombone playing to whistling and singing, and had the cat trained to come running when he whistled the Woody Woodpecker song. He was a huge Phillies, Eagles, and Steelers fan. He was gentle. Patient. Loving. Intelligent. Self-reliant. In addition to being loved by his family, Dave was an exceptionally talented and conscientious colleague, and a loyal friend. His smile and positive attitude were contagious, and he had a wicked wit and sense of humor. He had an extremely accomplished career. He earned a B.S. from The University of Pittsburgh and Doctor of Dental Medicine and Medical Doctor degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training at The University of Pennsylvania, followed by Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery fellowships at Northwestern and Midwestern Universities. Upon completion of his studies, he joined a full-time, hospital-based, level 1 trauma practice at the University of Pennsylvania, where he practiced for the past 24 years. Over his career, he held dozens of faculty appointments and received numerous awards and honors. As an educator, he delivered countless lectures and authored extensive research and publications. He was an intelligent, levelheaded, dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgeon who was an outstanding faculty member, AAOMS committee volunteer, CODA Commissioner, and ABOMS Board examiner. Above all, he was known as an exceptional surgeon, supportive mentor, and compassionate caregiver. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift in Dave’s name to either St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 415 E Athens Avenue, Ardmore, PA, 19003 OR Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W Arch Street, Pottsville, PA, 17901.
