    Joseph C. Melchiorre

    May 18, 1934 - May 23, 2021

Joseph Camillo Melchiorre, born May 18, 1934, died May 23, 2021, peacefully, surrounded by his family. Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest child and only son of the late Domenick Melchiorre and Diamante (nee Cerquitella) Melchiorre. He is survived by his daughters Theresa (Joseph) Melchiorre Krettek, Regina Melchiorre, Katharine (Kurt) Starsinic, his three grandsons, sister Caroline (Richard) Chmielewski and sister Marion DiBattista, a host of nieces, nephews, and many ‘fourth daughters’. He joins his sister Virginia “Ginny” Feo, in Heaven. Joe was raised in South Philadelphia, where he graduated from Southeast Catholic High School. Upon graduation he worked for the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania for over 42 years. He served in the United States Army as a Cryptography Technician, and loved to tell stories of the months when both he and Elvis Presley were stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. After their marriage, Joe and Mary Ann raised their family in Ardmore, PA after living for several years in Colwyn, PA. Joe loved his family, music - especially big bands, jazz and the crooners, travel, old movies, his Phillies and his Eagles. He would always make room at his table for just one more person, and he loved making puns and sharing stories with family & friends. He was a lifelong Democrat, serving as a poll machine operator and Judge of Elections for more than twenty years. His Funeral Mass and Burial will be private. You may join the Mass via livestream at omgcparish.org on Tuesday June 1st., at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Joy of Sox: Simply Providing Socks for the Homeless, 580 Lindsey Drive, Radnor, PA, 19087 www.thejoyofsox.org.
