September 10, 1941 - February 19, 2022
Roger T. Sheftel of Bryn Mawr, PA, died suddenly on February 19, 2022. He was 80 years old. Roger was the only son of Edward and Dorothy Sheftel and grew up in Denver, Colorado. Following his graduation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1963 he spent the rest of his life in the Philadelphia area. His Wharton education gave him the skills to develop a career in the finance industry, working in and creating businesses involved in banking, leasing, and manufacturing. He relished connecting people and businesses that needed financing with sources of funds. Roger married Phoebe (Sherman) in 1968 and delighted in their children Tisha Lancaster and Ryan Sheftel. He later welcomed grandchildren Bowen Lancaster and Meredith, Blaire and Brooke Sheftel. Building on his love of sports, he coached his children’s’ soccer and baseball teams for many years. This led to his becoming a certified member of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association and a long career officiating at college soccer games. Roger loved travel, visiting many countries around the world for both business and pleasure. Donations may be made in Roger’s memory to the “Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania”, University of Pennsylvania, Office of the Treasurer, PO Box 71332, Philadelphia, PA 19176-9913
