Bill Gonzalez

December 31, 1946 - April 14, 2022

William (Bill) David Gonzalez of Newtown Square, formerly of Wallingford, PA, died on April 14, 2022 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Lynn Mace Gonzalez and devoted father of Kristie Gonzalez (Eric McCollom) and Meredith Gonzalez (Daniel Williams); also survived by his cherished grandsons William and Andrew McCollom; sister June Frost; brother Eduardo Gonzalez and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Buehler. Born in Havana, Cuba, Bill was a graduate of Christ Church School in Christchurch, Virginia. He studied economics at Johns Hopkins University, before serving in the Army during the Vietnam War. After serving, he continued his education in architecture at Temple University. Upon his retirement from a 33-year career as a Vice President in the printing industry, Bill turned his love of woodworking into a second career as a restorer of fine furniture. Bill loved to entertain and prepare paella and other seafood dishes for family and friends and was known for his outdoor Cuban pig roasts. He often could be found trying to escape the sand traps at Rolling Green, playing competitive chess, or building models with his grandsons. Over the years, Bill volunteered for several organizations, including AIA, Rocky Run Y, NPAA soccer and ACLAMO Family Centers. His inquisitive nature and engineering skills enabled him to puzzle out almost any project or situation, earning him the title “Magic Dad.” There are many things that his family and friends will miss about Bill; one that won’t be missed was his uncanny ability to crush all opponents at Scrabble. Bill was a gentle soul whose family was everything to him. He was joyfully awaiting the birth of a third grandson this summer and was always dreaming of more visits to his beloved Cuba.
