Everett J. McConaghy Jr., “Jack” of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023. He was born on October 19, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Everett J. and Shirley (Riley) McConaghy and brother to Diane Stanton. After high school, Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was proud to serve and never let his kids forget the Marine Corps Birthday (10 November). Following his time with the Marines, he attended LaSalle University. As many know Jack as “a numbers guy,” it’s no surprise that he went on to pursue a career in accounting. His career took him to Alaska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Minnesota, and Illinois before ultimately coming back to Pennsylvania. He would joke the reason for coming home was to make sure his kids would grow up as Philadelphia sports fans. Jack’s dream job of working for the Philadelphia Phillies came to fruition in 2011 when he worked as an usher for 10 years. He loved his time with the Phillies and had countless memories of attending baseball games with his family throughout the years. He experienced the joy of taking his younger grandson, Cameron, to the Sacramento River Cats in 2021 and his older grandson, Carson, to his first Phillies game this past summer. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Judy (Gerbron) McConaghy, son Shawn (Wendy) of Sacramento, CA, and daughter Megan (Daniel) Crowe of Thornton, PA. He is adored by his 3 grandchildren: Carson and Reese (Crowe) and Cameron (McConaghy). His grandsons are lovingly named after him, Carson Everett and Cameron Jack. Those that are lucky to know Jack will remember him for his kindness, his humor, his positive attitude, his ability to make the people around him feel special, and for always treating others with respect. He never missed an opportunity to hold his grandkids, go to the shore, or grab the microphone when “On the Way to Cape May” or “Sweet Caroline” came on. He will be dearly missed. Family and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass for Jack on Saturday, November 25th, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Springfield, PA.
