OBITUARY FOR MARJORIE FLING SPEAKMAN Marjorie F. Speakman, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA died January 19, 2008 at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA. She was 97. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. Fling and Caroline McCaigue of the Germantown section of Philadelphia and the wife of the late George E. Speakman. Her brother Joseph Fling of Warminster, PA and sister Dorothy Fling of Philadelphia preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, George E. Speakman, of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Richard J. Speakman, (wife Elisabeth) of West Grove, PA. She was Grandmother to three; Paul Speakman, Kristin Davis, Laura Bugger and Step-Grandmother to two; Timothy McGuire and Jeremy McGuire. She also leaves five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren and a nephew, Joseph Fling. After graduating from Germantown High School, she was employed by The Perm Mutual Life Insurance Company and retired as a medical secretary from Lankenau Hospital. She was a young mother and homemaker when her husband died suddenly. She fondly recalled all her summers growing up at the family home in Arden, Delaware and accounting for them in her memoirs, "The Gift of Memory". She had taught herself piano at preschool age and gladly entertained all with her wide repertoire of music. Mrs. Speakman had a close circle of friends from her Bridge Club and Sorority. She was an avid Phillies fan and loved to travel especially on her annual trips to the Jersey shore and Woodloch Pines. Mrs. Speakman was known throughout the United States and Great Britain for her handcrafted wooden jigsaw puzzles. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Ardmore, PA, a member of Martha's Circle and WELCA. She also assisted in the church office as needed. She was devoted to her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The burial was private.
