Tributes

Buck Scott (William M. Scott III), of Wynnewood, PA, died on January 17, 2026, of complications from a fall. He was 96 years old. The eldest of five children, he was born in Bryn Mawr to W. Maxwell Scott, Jr., and Florance Jenkins Scott of Westmount, Montreal. Buck graduated from the Haverford School and Dartmouth College. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. His business career began at the Greensburg, PA Switchgear division of I-T-E Circuit Breaker Company. Later, he transferred to work in international sales from its Philadelphia headquarters. Eventually he founded his own business: Electrical Energy Enterprises, selling heavy electrical equipment. Buck was a longtime supporter of the Franklin Institute and many other Philadelphia institutions He played tennis at the Merion Cricket Club until a year ago and enjoyed the weekly meetings of the Right Angle Club. His Canusamex quarterly newsletter was widely read. At one time, Buck served as Chairman of the Montgomery County Democrats but was proud to have friends on both sides of the aisle. At various times, he was president of the Philadelphia Council for International Visitors, the Philadelphia Council of the National Conference of Christians and Jews and the Penn Valley Civic Association, among others. Buck served many years as Rector’s Warden at his local Episcopal parish and later served on the Chapter of the Episcopal Cathedral of Philadelphia. More recently he also attended the Overbrook Presbyterian Church and the Haverford Friends Meeting. He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Mary Elizabeth Klumpp Scott, and his grandson Forrest Schoenberger. He is survived by his six children: Mary Scott of Santa Cruz CA (Chris Connery), Sally Moser of Bryn Mawr (Perc Moser), Cackie Scott of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ (Brian Vesley), Caroline McIlhenny of Springfield (the late Joseph McIlhenny), Bar Scott of Corvallis, OR (Brent Bruser), and Bill Scott of Mill Valley, CA (Jill Baran Scott). Other survivors include his brothers and sisters: John Scott of St. Davids (Gwinn); Bonnie Conway of New Orleans; Mary McElroy of Gladwyne (Jay); Peter Scott of Brooklyn (Lee), and family members John Sennitt (Norwich, England) and Julia Randall (Buckinghamshire, England). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30, at 11:00 AM at The Church of the Redeemer, 230 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.theredeemer.org/livestreams. Interment will be private.
